The Toni Jost winery in Bacharach has been owned by the Jost family since 1831. The winery is currently managed by Cecilia Jost - sixth generation winemaker - together with her father Peter Jost. The name Hahnenhof is derived from the name of the single vineyard Bacharacher Hahn.

Over the past 180 years, the winery has worked continuously to acquire areas in this prime location. Today, this location/single vineyard is almost entirely owned by the Jost family. The Toni Jost winery covers 15 hectares of vineyards, 80% of which is planted with Riesling, 15% with Pinot Noir and the rest with Pinot Blanc and Dunkelfelder (a grape variety of which dark and full bodied red wines are produced). A third of the vineyards are in the Rheingau, in the Walluf and Martinstal districts. The winery on the Rheingau side has been owned by the family for over 200 years.

A result of the constant concentration on the best locations and the production of high quality Rieslings and Pinot Noirs are the many top ratings of the relevant wine guides. In the Falstaff wine guide, the Toni Jost winery achieved 88-93 points for its wines, in the VINUM Wineguide 3 grapes (making it one of the best wineries on the Middle Rhine).
